I Can’t Access My Email Through Google Apps

Experiencing an issue with gaining email access through a Google App? We can help with that.

Google Apps can do a lot to streamline an office’s communications. That’s why we include it with our email packages. But there’s a known issue our clients sometimes notice with Google Apps. Some users report being unable to connect their Google Apps email account with Microsoft Outlook and other email service providers, Quickbooks, or other software. This may happen even when they have the correct username and password. In these instances, the most likely cause is that Google is denying the connection because it is a “less secure” app.

This is a really common problem, as Google classifies every app that they don’t own as “less secure.” Fortunately, there is an easy fix: You will simply need to enable the option for your account to accept less secure apps.

Here’s how:

  2. Click ‘Go to Admin Console’
  3. Click ‘Security’ and then ‘Basic Settings’
  4. Under the ‘Less Secure Apps’ section, click on ‘Go to settings for less secure apps’
  5. Make sure the option ‘Allow users to manage their access to less secure apps’ is turned on.
  6. Click ‘Save’
